Former Interior Minister: Iran’s Intelligence Ministry involved in drug smuggling

Mostafa Pour-Mohammadi, currently the head of the General Inspection Organization of the Islamic Republic of. Iran (Sazman Bazresi kol e keshvar) and former interior minister and previous head of foreign intelligence has said that the intelligence ministry is involved in drug trafficking, according to a report in the Baztab news site.
Here are some relevant parts of the article:

- Did you arrive at their [Intelligence Ministry] offenses in the General Inspection Organization of Iran? Or is it prohibited?
Look, the actions of the intelligence apparatus are fundamentally covert.
- Even for you, the General Inspection Organization of Iran?
Yes, they have their own regulatory system. They have very strong protection. And if you want to check the dossiers in the intelligence apparatus, you have to get permission from the head of the judiciary and then after that we can enter the place. I also, both here and in the ministry [of the interior] and other places I have been, I believe that there is no other way for us to have reached our goals. Now I am fully convinced, I don’t see any point in acting to the contrary… our past experience has also shown that we don’t have any way to reach our goals.. this is contrary to what we would want domestically and abroad. Sure, drug trafficking in all its forms is treason against humanity. There is no benefit in having one apparatus do it and anyone who has or anyone who is thinking about these things, it is definitely bad for the country and there will be no blessing and no good and no profit to be had from it.
Pour-Mohammadi has previously (1987-1990) acted as advisor to the Intelligence Minister and in 1990 was appointed its deputy minister. A year later, he was appointed head of Iran’s foreign intelligence services.
In 2000, he was appointed head of the political-social section of the Supreme Leader’s office, and in 2005 Ahmadinejad appointed him interior minister. He was removed from that post in 2008 and became head of the General Inspection Organization that same year.
Pour-Mohammadi has been linked, by the late dissident cleric Ayatollah Montazeri, with the massacre of dissidents in Evin Prison in 1988, when he was in charge of interrogating prisoners
